Sacriston Scouts

Sacriston Scouts

Welcome to new opportunities for gaining skills for life in the Sacriston and surrounding areas.

Sacriston Scouts was formed in 2019 as a satellite group of 1st Framwellgate Moor Scout Group. We started by opening up our Beaver Colony, which is going from strength to strength and we hope to be able to open a Cub Pack and Scout Troop very soon…

Young People

Once our Scout Group is fully formed, we will be offering our Scout programme to young people aged 6 to 14 through three sections; Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. From Archery to Zorbing, and almost everything in between, our young people give it a go, get up and try again, ask the big questions and think on their feet.

Beavers (aged 6-8)

Welcome to the Turquoise Ninjas. Our Beaver Colony is the first and youngest section of our Scout Group – aged 6-8 years old.

Beavers take their first steps in discovering all that Scouting has to offer, taking part in activities indoors and outdoors as well as the odd night away thrown in for good measure. Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts (hence Turquoise Ninjas), Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others.

Sacriston Beavers – Meet Mondays from 18:00-19:00

Cubs (aged 8-10½)

Have an adventure with friends, while gaining skills for life. Our Cub Pack will be our second section for adventurers aged 8-10½ years.

Recognised by their green sweatshirts, Cub Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others. There are lots of awards and badges to be gained which adds to the excitement of completing the requirements, earning self-belief, confidence and being proud of their accomplishments both within Cubs and with their activities and sports outside Cubs. The Cubs also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of camps as well as sleepovers. For some a Cub camp may be the first time they spend a night under canvas so it’s a real adventure for them!

We currently don’t have a Cub Pack at Sacriston – we need help from people like you to make this happen… See Adult Volunteers below.

Scouts (aged 10½-14)

Continuing the adventure, our Scout section will be our third section for Young People aged 10½-14 years.

We build and develop young people’s confidence, sense of adventure and skills, as well as encouraging them to explore their beliefs and attitudes to the world in which we live. It offers them the independence to put these skills into practice at camps, trips away and in everyday life.

We currently don’t have a Scout Troop at Sacriston – we need help from people like you to make this happen… See Adult Volunteers below.

Adult Volunteers

Volunteering at Scouts isn’t just about changing young people’s lives. It’s about doing something that’s #GoodForYou too.

We have aspirations of becoming our own independent Scout Group in our own right. To make this, and all these amazing adventures happen for our brilliant young people, we need wonderful adults, just like you, not only to run activities for our Beavers, or to open our own Cub Pack and eventually Scout Troop, but also to help “backstage” as part of our management team or executive committee.

Best thing is, you don’t need to be Bear Grylls to volunteer – we already have Bear, we just need you. No previous Scouting experience necessary and we will provide the training you need to take on the role.
