The Committee
The 1st Framwellgate Moor Scout Group Committee exists to support the Scout Group - in particular the work of the leaders
The Group Committee will usually meet once per term for at most a couple of hours.
The committe consists of
- Group chairman
- Group treasurer
- Group secretary
- Two parental representaives for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts
- The Group Scout Leader
- The Section leaders and their assistants
- A Building Manager
- The Group Quartermaster
The Committee is elected at the Group AGM some time in May
General Committee Responsibilites:
The committee is responsible for:
- Ensure Sound financial sustainable basis for the Group
- Feedback to the leaders from the parents and children
- Ensure the up keep of the Scout hut and Group equipment
- Ensure suitable provsion is made to replace the Groups equipment
- Raise funds for specifiic projects (e.g. apply for grants)
- Support leader with peripferal activites and ideas
- Raise general support from all parents
Specific Roles and Responsibilites
Chairman
The Chairman shall chair the Committee meetings and AGM. Unlike the secretary, treasurer, parental reps,
QM and building manager they are appointed by the GSL at the AGM.
Treasurer
The treasurer shall keep the groups accounts and be responsible for ensuring
expenses are paid in good time. They are responsible for getting the accounts signed off
and ensuring approriate insurances are held.
Secretary
The secretary shall keep minutes of the committee meetings and AGM.
They shall handle group correspondence as required - for example thank you letters following donations.
Parental Reps
The parental reps are responsible for reporting backto committee comments from children and parents and,
suppoorting the work of the committe in general.
Building Manager
The building manager is responsible for ensuring the building and grounds are
apropriately maintained and updated, this includes PAT testing, fire extinguiser testing, etc.
They should have a long term view of hut developments.
They do not have to do the work themselves just ensure it gets done!
Quartermaster
The group quartermaster is responsible for ensuring equipment is kept in good order, checked and inspected as required.
Group Trustees
The Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and any additional signatories on the groups account are the charity trustees
for the group. See
